Happy stakeholders. What more could you want?

Links Ave, Mt Maunganui is, as one real estate agent described it, a “coveted locale.”

Repairing an ageing, 900mm diameter, 60-metre-long concrete storm water pipe which ran under the busy road, and beneath some homes, required not only technical expertise but sensitivity to the needs of all stakeholders.

Contractors HEB Construction, and NZ Lining chose Brandenburger UV liners from BurrowTech to provide a trenchless solution. This will extend the pipe’s life by up to 100 years.

Omar Al-Karbouli NZ Lining Project Manager says finding the least impactful solution to repair the pipe was an imperative. Whilst there were several options available, it was decided CIPP via UV (Ultraviolet) cured liner was the most suitable in this circumstance. CIPP via UV cured liner involves the use of a UV light being pulled through the pipe with curing achieved in 2-3 hours. “UV curing means there was a lot less of the potent smell and nothing is leaching into the environment.”

Brandenburger’s patented winding technology has produced more than 7,000,000m of liners worldwide over the past 20 years – raising the bar in performance and changing the entire infrastructure remediation industry for the better.

On the Mt Maunganui project, sucker trucks were used upstream to remove inflow and avoid the cost and disruption that over-pumping would cause to nearby schools and businesses, and the busy highway.

Omar says the job went well and even finished a day earlier than projected. “Every hour was spent well. It went smoothly.”

It’s our mission to simplify the difficult. If you’re putting pipe rehabilitation projects in the ‘too hard basket’ you need BurrowTech.
