Putting life back into the Spring Creek culvert

Working with multiple stakeholders is all in a day’s work for TDG Environmental. Established in 1989, the specialist environmental solutions company takes everything in their stride from dealing with simple blocked pipes to servicing large networks of gross pollutant traps.

Even so, Spring Creek, a small Marlborough town, threw up a few challenges.

A decaying corrugated iron stormwater culvert running underneath the state highway and railway line was also close to a renowned vineyard. There were also weight pressures from the traffic and trains above to be considered.

Using a Brandenburger 1200 UV liner from specialists BurrowTech, the culvert was remediated in just two days. This included one day of preparation – clearing the culvert from weeds, undergrowth and debris in the bottom of the pipe – and one day to instal and cure the liner itself.

The seamless result will gift the culvert another 50 years of life or more.

It’s the most recent collaboration between TDG Environmental and BurrowTech, who have also worked together on major projects including the Korokoro reservoir in Lower Hutt and remediation of stormwater pipes under busy Clarence Street in Riccarton, Christchurch.

Hayden Powell from the BurrowTech team says the Brandenburger UV liners have proved an infrastructure game changer. “The trenchless approach turns remediation on it’s head, 100%. There’s less interruption to traffic, or disruption to nearby properties or businesses. And it’s so quick, and efficient compared to the old-school method of excavating to lift pipes out and replace them.”

It’s our mission to simplify the difficult. If you’re putting pipe rehabilitation projects in the ‘too hard basket’ you need BurrowTech.
